It is with great pride we present our web-site to you as an
introduction to our training facility and family. It
has been very rewarding compiling this information for you,
as doing so has reminded us of very special horses, riders,
owners and occasions. We hope you'll enjoy you visit
here as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.

They are rich with photos we feel are representative of our
training program.
Rickford Stables was established in 1968 when we, Dale and
Terri Rickford, were married, and it's name has become
synonymous with championship performance horses and riders
in a variety of breeds and disciplines. Drawing from
our own individual experiences in training, we merged our
training philosophies and techniques, resulting in a
program that has produced numerous champions in Arabians,
Half-Arabians, Hackneys, Hunters, Jumpers, Morgans,
Saddlebreds, Quarter Horses and Tennessee Walking Horses.
We were introduced to the Morgan breed in 1972 and readily
appreciated their willingness to be trained and retain what
they were taught. Since then, we have gradually
turned our focus more and more to developing Morgan
performance horses in Carriage Driving, Hunter Pleasure,
Hunter Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Seat and
Stock Seat Equitation, Trail and Western Working
Versatility.
We feel that our ability to consistently produce champions
in performance is due to the fact that our training
techniques are steeped in the traditions of the California
Vaqueros. Our horses are readily recognizable for
their correct silhouettes, balance, impulsion, classical
head sets, and a lightness in the bridle seldom
equaled. We take great pride in the fact that our
Amateur and Junior Exhibitor riders can easily ride their
own horses on a championship winning level.
We are ably assisted by our son, Chris Rickford, and our
daughter, Brittany Weibel, as Associate Trainers.
This unique family approach enables us to cater to the
individual needs of specific horses, providing a high ratio
of successful training partnerships between horse and rider
than is enjoyed by other training stables
