WELCOME
TO OUR
TRAINING FACILITY
LOCATED AT THE COTTONWOODS

In July of 2004, we located our training stable at the facilities of "The Cottonwoods", an all-breed, full-care boarding facility set on 28 lush acres in the rolling-hilled horse country of Fort Collins, Colorado.  The Cottonwoods is owned and operated by Rick, Jan and Megan Lindeberg, long-time Morgan owners and breeders.  Megan serves as the Manager of The Cottonwoods, seeing to the needs of the horses in her care.

The main barn offers 38 roomy box stalls, either 12' x 12' with individual runs, or 12' x 16' stalls that are suitable for stallions or broodmares with foals.  All stalls are cleaned daily and bedded with shavings weekly.  There are individual and group tack rooms, six grooming areas with overhead heating, matted aisles, restroom and an Owner's Lounge which looks out onto the spacious 100' x 200' fully lighted indoor arena.  Further amenities include a scenic outdoor pleasure arena, a dressage arena, a jump arena, a trail arena, and a working cattle arena.  Rounding out the facilities are individual and group turn-out or boarding paddocks with shelter, a galloping track, a cross-country hunt course, hot walk, round pens, and wash rack.

Barn staff lives on-site and is available 24 hours a day for the security and well-being of the horses.  The feeding program is based on clean, properly cured and baled grass and alfalfa hay.  A complete pelleted feed compliments the hay diet, and is fed with an eye to the needs of each individual horse.  Feeding is done three times a day to insure that horses have something to browse on at all times, even those on reduced diets. Free choice mineral and salt blocks are provided in each stall.  While Management does not provide additional supplements, they encourage owner to provide any supplements that they would like included in their horse's diet.

Dr. Melissa King serves as both The Cottonwoods and Rickford Stable's veterinarian.  Her expertise ranges from routine health care to breeding to emergency medical treatment.  Serious surgical cases are referred to either Fossil Creek Veterinary Clinic or Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital, both within 20 minutes of The Cottonwoods.  Owners are free to use the services of Dr. King or a veterinarian of their own choice.

Jerry Banks serves as the farrier for Rickford Stables and has been shoeing for us for fourteen years, making a major contribution to the success of the show string.  His willingness to show each horse as an individual and try new approaches to old problems has made him invaluable to the Rickford Stables team.  Owners may choose to use Jerry's services or those of a farrier of their choice.

With the excellent boarding care of The Cottonwoods, and the expertise of both Dr. King and Jerry Banks, the Rickford Stable's show string is assured of maintaining supreme condition, health and soundness while competing on the highest levels.  Call or e-mail us at your convenience to set up an appointment for a visit!
